Week 1 Challenge - Song Title

Welcome back to the Polkadoodles Challenges!! Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year and that you are raring to go with the challenge we have for you this week!

However, I need to announce the winners from our last challenge of 2009 which was a free theme. The winners are:
Joint First Place: 1lovnmama
Joint First Place: Magda
Third Place: Daniele
Please contact Nikky for further details and your blinkies! Congratulations!
The Design Team will be taking it in turn each week to set the challenges and I'm (Ruth) hosting the challenge this week.

I've asked the Design Team to use a

Song Title
in their creation and as an added twist I asked them to use the Back to Nature cd.

This challenge is open until 12noon GMT on Sunday 17 January and anyone can enter! To be eligible for a top three blinkie or prize, you must follow some simple rules - please follow the specific challenge for this week and the maximum number of challenges your entry can be entered into is 10 - this includes Polkadoodles. You can use anything from your stash to create your entry but if use a Polkadoodles product we will be especially pleased!! EDITED TO ADD - we now have Mr Linky so please add your entry with him but we will still look at the comment section too!

Anyway, onto the Design Team creations:
Sue: I've chosen the song title "Love Is Like A Butterfly" by Dolly Parton. The gorgeous floral papers, butterflies and sentiments are all from the brilliant Back To Nature cd.

Enfys: I made this card for my little Granddaughter, so my song title is "You Are My Sunshine", which of course, she is! I was short of time this week so I've used all the pre-coloured elements from Back To Nature and just did a bit of snipping and dotting with some Shimmerz.

Ruth: I've taken the liberty of using "Moving On (Up)" by M People for my card and I made it for a colleague who was moving onto pastures new.... All paperbased elements including the little alphies are from Back To Nature and I've added some organza ribbon and acetate from my stash.

Fliss: Mine is inspired by the song "swinging on a star" although there is no star in sight, but there is a swing! My project is an altered mini clipboard (lovely for a little girl's room) and I've used the floral explosion and ditsy flower papers from Back To Nature with a matching floral border, a scalloped frame and the girl on the swing with some added extra cut out flowers. Lace and pearls finish it off.

Kris: My song title is "Baby, It's Cold Outside" - an oldie which will surely date me! I combined the striped paper and stampie from Back To Nature with the snowflake paper from Jingle Jangle (had to make it look cold!) I colored her with Prismas and OMS, computer generated the sentiment and added a few jewels.

Brenda: "Spread Your Wings" by Queen. Papers and large butterfly from Back To Nature Heritage collection. Butterfly cut out and heat embossed with iridescent powder.

Lou - Card 1: I know this one is a bit of a cheat but I'm still going to use it . . . "Happy Birthday" by Stevie Wonder. All papers from the "Back To Nature" CD - picnic brights and I have added some spira flowers with gems for added bling!

Lou - Card 2: "A Good Heart" by Fergal Sharkie was my inspiration for my 2nd project for my S-I-L's 40th birthday. Again those gorge picnic brights papers from the "Back To Nature" CD, decorated with both spira and Stacker flowers.

Boni: "Who Let The Dog's Out?" by Baha Men - Back To Nature cd using the Alphies to create a collaged background page then layering and popping the "dogs". Charm is by American Traditional Designs Lil' Charms.

Kerry: "Puppy Love" by Donny Osmond. All papers are from Back To Nature except some yellow card for the heart. Just added an eyelet, a couple of brads and some ribbon.

Dolly: "Peacock Suit" by Paul Weller. Papers and image 'Shake a Tailfeather' collection from the Back to Nature CD. Decoupaged the peacock body and cut out a second set of feathers and slotted them in with a craft knife for extra definition.

Claire: "Tie a yellow ribbon..." and I do promise that ribbon is yellow but whatever I do the photo makes it look orange. I do love a gatefold but a nightmare to get a decent photo - all back to nature elements with only a tiny bit of doodling!

Kate: "Love is like a butterfly" - Dolly Parton. I've used the Heritage papers and the gorgeous butterfly which I mounted on a nesties circle on the folded back front panel of the card. I embossed the butterfly and the lettering with holographic powder to add a subtle iridescence to its wings.

Nettie: My song title is....."What's New Pussycat" by you guessed Tom Jones. I have used acetate for the main part of my card so please excuse the picture. I have used the gorgeous Candy papers and added a little glossy accents to the letters and flowers.

Hope you've been inspired by these creations! Remember, you have until Sunday 17 January at 12noon GMT to enter and please leave a direct link to your blog to help us find your entry. Good luck! We now have Mr Linky so please use him but don't worry if you've used the comments section as we will still look at those too!
