So let's see what the Digi Queens have for us on their very first week - welcome to the team my Colouring Queens!....

Janine - good morning everyone and I'm so excited to share my my first post for the Polkadoodles new Design Team 'Digi Queens'. From all the wonderful digital stamps Nikky has drawn, I decided to use the uber cute digital stamp Amelia Braids.  For my card I printed her out several times, coloured her with alcohol markers and fussy cut her out, the cut out sections were then layered her up to give her added dimension. Can I say she was a dream to colour - all the lovely open areas made her easy to work with.  I use Polkadoodles digital papers and cardstock to create lots of mats and layers.  To finish off I added a little glitter and a few gems.

You can get Amelia Braids here...

Fi....Hi everyone, I so pleased to be sharing my first card with you here at Polka Doodles. So for my first card I decided to go with a Christmas card but I really couldn't decide which one to go with first as they are so darn cute however...eventually I have used "Hollybobs Snowballing"...isn't she such a cutie?? I coloured her with alcohol markers and did some shading with pencils....The papers are also from Polka Doodles...they are from the Christmas Joy Bundle which are so pretty!! I layered the papers onto blck cardstock and doodled around the edges.  I also added a piece of lace under one of the layers just for a bit of texture.  I punched 2 snowflakes and layered them together and then glittered them up...I added some pearl to finish...

You can catch our Snowballer here...

Pami - good morning everyone!  This is my first card for the Digi Queens and I am very excited to be here today.  For my first card I decided to use one of the gorgeous Hollybobs and this one is called Hollybobs Presents.  I coloured her with alcohol markers. I used digital papers from the Christmas Hollybobs range which are just beautiful.  I didn't want to cover up the paper much so I left it quite simple just adding some red pearls where the berries would be and a touch of glamour dust.

Wrapping Pressies can be found here...

Tait - Morning Everyone. I am so excited to be here today with my first card for the Digi Queens. I have used the super cute Luna from the Pretty Sweet Girls collection. She has been coloured with Copic markers and the card was made using a collection of papers with inked and distressed edges. I have then used a bunch of flowers to finish off the card.
You can get Luna here (or get to Kit and Clowder ; )

Cara - Hi everyone its fab to be here for the very first post as part of the Digi Queens Team!
I decided to use one of the new revamped images Pretty Sweet images ... this is the adorable Amelia Contemplating. She reminds me so much of my daughter so I coloured her hair to match hers a sort of red/blonde using my Graph'it markers. I teamed her up with papers and a sentiment from the delicious Sugarplum Daisy CDrom.

You can find Amelia here:

Nikky...I am really snowed under this week with lots of things going on - a new release, a Create and Craft TV show on Sunday and lots more so I didn't get chance to make a full card but I really wanted to join in this week. Over at Kit and Clowder Alyce has an awesome Polkadoodles colouring competition running so make sure you go and join in - you can actually get a freebie if you sign up! So here is my Luna, forgive the blurry photo taken badly, her face looks a bit ill! This is the image we're all colouring and the competition theme is funky hair...
My hands were a bit shaky when I did this as I'd been typing all day on the pooter but I quite like how she turned out in the end, bar the colouring outside of the lines which I had to correct when I'd finished lol!

You can get Luna here:

Wow - fabulous inspiration from the team and some great colouring ideas! I really love how everyone has brought great light and shade into their images!

Over at Digi Choosday challenge today we have some fabulous DISCOUNT CODES for you to grab so make sure you head over and join in and soak up loads more ideas from the Digi Choosday team!

We'll be back as usual on Friday with our Polkadoodles challenge so we'll see you then!

So let's get to the Design Team's fantastic inspiration for this week....

Ruth: I've gone way back to Paper Boutique Vol 3 to make my sample for this week. I've used the A5 template, printed all the elements, cut them out and layered up, adding punched stars and ribbon to close the card

Katie Ohhh Sugar and Spice and all things yummy. But my cupcake has No calories! I made this cupcake pin cushion with papers from Pick n Mix Collection One CD and the Flower was made using the Love and Cherish CD. The flowers round the outside of the cake was made with the background papers from the Pick n Mix Collection One cd then punched out with a flat back pearl for the centre. The stand was made using my electronic cutting machine.  Have fun and Keeeeeeeeeep Crafting xoxo

Bev here, for my project I went with a shaped card using a template from the brilliant Paper Boutique Vol 1 CD Rom it's so easy to use and the end result looks fab, I'm sure you'll agree.

Lou: I've gone for the traditional "Sugar and Spice" for my project and have made a baby card to welcome a new baby girl. The papers and bear image are from a Sundae of Seasons CD (Spring section) with the remainder of everything else being made using a plethera of Studio 12 stamps. Full details of everything used can be found on my blog HERE.

Scatty Jan For my sugar and spice project I went with a birthday card - I used the very cute Cory from tte Pretty Tuff CD - the little train is also from the CD as is the sentiment - I coloured in using Graph'it Markers along with promarkers and I am so pleased how well they work together - I normally struggle with boy's cards but since seeing this CD I will not struggle again xx

Susan  For my project this week I have used everything from the Sugarplum daisy CD
this is an absolutely fabulous jam packed CD and the backing papers are to die for, amazing sentiments ,backgrounds ,digi stamps and lots more

Patty - Ohhh Sugar and Spice. All papers and images are from the  Sugarplum daisy CD collection.
added the two contrasting mini bow, inked the edge of the image and as a finished touch the purple rhinestones at the right bottom.

Nikky...My interpretation of Sugar and Spice is the girly theme so I've gone for a Tomboy-ish image on my creation this week, giving me the best of both worlds! (or maybe I cheated a little haha!)...I've used papers from the Picknix 1 Collection together with the Rainy Days digistamp which you can either find on it's own here or in the Girl Talk collection. Head over to my blog to see how I made this card and find out more...

So there's our inspiration this week!
Remember you have until 7th March to enter this one and there's that big £50 prize up for grabs so make sure you're in it to win it!

We look forward to seeing all your great creations as always and we'll see you here again next week!

Right, let's get on with it!

Asha - Fairy time! What a wonderful excuse to play with Christmas fairies. This week I bring not one but two fairies with this swing card made entirely from images, papers and greetings from the delightful Angelberry Christmas collection. I added very few extras in this production - just some Liquid Pearls and Stickles. If you like fairies and Christmas, this CD will keep you busy with fabulous festive makes.

Sally - "Fairy Time"  For this challenge I have looked through my Polkadoodle stamp sets that I have and decided to use Fairy Flutterby - Maggie.  I coloured her with Graph'it markers, stamped the butterfly on card and vellum and coloured them identically. I cut out Maggie and the butterflies and adhered them together using Pinflair Glue.  I found some butterfly background paper in my crafty stash which is off of one of my Polkadoodle CD Roms and mounted that on some turquoise cardstock then onto a Kraft card.  I then went into my Bonbon Belle CD Rom to find a flower to match my fairy. Printed it 4x6 size and then cut it out. Adhered my fairy Maggie onto the centre, added a sentiment and toadstools from the stamp set. I also added a touch of glitter to her wings x

Zoe - For this, my first time DT project for Polkadoodles, I chose to use the very gorgeous collection that is The Bonbon Belles CD.  I chose two different fairies - one I hand coloured with a mix of markers and the other a pre-coloured image from the CD. Together with papers and embellishments from the collection I created pages in my craft journal. It's something I love to do and find it's something to look at for inspiration. The sentiments are from Picknix collection (Studio 12) which I wanted to finish the pages.

Bev - This week I opted to use the gorgeous Sugarplum Daisy CD Rom. I printed off a few digis to make up my picture and coloured them in with my Graph it markers. The backing paper and cute tickets also come from the same CD. I inked up a doily to add a lacy edge, a leafy die cut & a flower from my crafty stash completes this bold design.

Karon - This week we were asked to try and put two different fairies on the same project.  Did you know that owl fairies actually give the fairies their wings?  Well, that is what I am going with :-)  My little owl is from the Bonbon Belles Double CD and the second fairy is from the CD collection All Around and Everywhere.  I made an accordion card, or triple fold card, and layered it with papers from Cherryblossom Lane CD (Butterfly paper) and the Double Sprinkle of Kraft CD (Daisy paper). The main sentiment was also from the Double Sprinkle of Kraft CD.  The little ticket "Just a note" was from the Cherryblossom Lane CD.

Alethea - Well I went all out this week and became a little creative!! I created a door or wall hanger for one of Logan's friends' from school who is having a party this weekend! I went through all my Polka Doodles cd's looking for fairies and accessories to go with them and decided to use the new Bonbon Belles Cd disc 1 and 2. I was initially going to make a card then got a great idea to create a scene on acetate! The only thing not from the Bonbon Belle's cd is the mushrooms  (from Sundae of Seasons cd)  that I have incorporated into the garden! Parts of the garden are raised so there is some dimension, I added kindyglitz for some sparkle, rhinestones for bling, replaced the flower stems with twine as well as the banner string, then added the painted chipboard letters.

Claire C  - I'm in the festive spirit this week and getting ready for Christmas, talk about organised lol. I've made a double sided door hanger using images and papers from Angelberry Christmas Cd. The images were coloured with Graph'It markers and I've added some die cuts and a sparkly moon made with Maimeri Glassy Gel. I've added some text to the sky, on on side it says 'Santa Please Stop Here' and on the other its says 'I've been good', I've popped the sparkly moon over the text so you can only see it at certain angles. I've done a tutorial on how to make the moon so scroll down if you fancy having a go.

Anjie - I know it's not my week but I loved the theme so thought I would gate-crash with a card.
The papers and images are from the Sugarplum Daisy CD-Rom. I have coloured the image with Graph It markers which you can buy from here.

I've added some faux stitching to the papers and some glitter to the wings. I've made the roses from the same paper then added some lace, a feather and a die cut doily for some added interest. I'm really pleased with how this card has turned out, I think it's because it's in my fave colours!

Hi there, It's Rebekah here with my first DT project for polkadoodles and the Fairy time challenge!
I have created a bookmark pocket card for my daughter.
I have used the chocolate lime papers from the Bonbon Belles double CD. Both my fairy digis are from the same CD and I have coloured them both with pencils. The great thing about digis is being able to resize them so I could make a tiny one for the bookmark, of course you might want to use a pre coloured image if you don't like colouring in tiny details!
.....
I have also used the Bonbon Belles CD for many of my extra elements like my layered butterfly and ladybird and some of my flowers, all from the coordinating collection. My stamp on the bookmark is Polkadoodles sensational sentiments Stamp doodles.

Miria For my card I used two fairies from Bonbon Belles CD , as you can see, they're different sizes, the one in the tag is a mini fairy :) it's so easy to fit them as you like! They are both coloured with pencils. I die cut some scraps of patterned papers from Sugarplum Daisy CD to use as a background and added some sentiment tickets.

Fliss For my creation with 2 fairies, I've made a double sided mobile designed to be hung up so that it will twist in any breeze so that you can see the different fairy on each side. I've used my 2 favourite fairies from the Bonbon Belles CD and have used 2 of the absolutely gorgeous floral wreaths to sit them in. I used precoloured images as I'm short on time at the moment but with Nikky's wonderful colouring you'd never know! I added a scattering of gems and pearls and some pretty roses to finish off.

Nikky...I made this Angel (well they're the same as Fairies really right? from the Angelberry stamp using my Graph'It markers. I wanted to add a warm glow so it looked like the 'Peace' was lit up from underneath...
Lidia... And for this challenge I made a triptych with tags, this in turn also serves as Mini Album, fairies are Maggie, Babsie and Meeshelle; Papers from Master Final  Cd, flowers are from  Studio 12 Stamps.

WOW!!! What an amazing array of beautiful projects the team has produced this week, just stunning work from everyone! Hope you can go and visit all their blogs because those girls sure are talented!

So there is your inspiration this week - you have until Sun 8th September to enter this challenge and the winner will be announced on the 14th - don't forget you can win a great prize!
See you next week!

Now for our challenge for this week and the theme chosen by moi, your DIY fanatic Fliss, is to:

  Make Your Own Background

So it's time to dig out those stamps, inks, embossing folders and so on and you only need to look at the fabulously inventive DT samples for some inspiration if you're stuck, or even if you're not!
We have some fantastic prizes this week too:
1st Prize is a £10 voucher to spend on the Polkadoodles website, 2nd prize is a Download Bundle and 3rd prize is a Download.
Please don't forget our rules and good luck - the challenge ends on Sunday 14 July at 12noon GMT!

Fliss - I'm sure you can imagine how much I enjoyed this one and later on today you'll find a tutorial on how I made my background using inks and stamps. I've used the gorgeous debutante image from the Fredericka CD and I paper pieced her frock by printing the image out on to gold velvet paper - I wasn't sure about putting this through the printer but it was fine. The sentiment comes from the CD too.

Sally - Hi for this week's challenge it is "Make your own background" - So I thought how perfect  would it be to use one of the lovely owls on the new Bonbon Belles CD Rom with one of the pretty floral frames. I printed and cut out the image and the frame. I put a piece of cream cardstock through my embossing machine using a wood effect embossing folder.  I then cut to size and used my Pan Pastels over the impression. Matted it on brown and green cardstock and adhered it to the card blank.
I then 3D the frame using my Pinflair gel and popped the little owl behind it. I added some flowers and bling to her headdress and a sentiment.

Bev here, I thoroughly enjoyed making my own background for this card. I used one of the tiny stamps from the Neighbours Stamp range stamped all over my card blank then ran it through an embossing folder and inked the edges. I printed off one of the beautiful images from Candy Doodles CD Rom. cut it out using a scalloped edge die matted it onto a contrasting colour and added a ribbon. The flowers were printed from Candy Doodles CD Rom they were coloured in with alcohol markers to match the image.

Alethea -  I decided to make a boys card for this challenge cos they are cards I am always short of! So I went straight to the Pretty Tuff CD Rom. I designed my own background paper using the ipod image, then printed it out on vellum. I stuck that onto a red cs base... I then cut out a small blue rectangle and rounded the corners and added a black strip for the image to sit on! I then just added some buttons and the sentiment which is also from the Pretty Tuff CD Rom.

Asha - I made a girly card using an image from the BonBon Belles Double CD. For my background I adhered several of the floral elements from this delicious CD and for added sparkle I threw some bling. The sentiment, also from the CD, is perched on a pop-dot.

Karon - Hmmm!  make your own background eh!  I decided to get some inks and a small butterfly stamp.  I first inked up the background in three shades of ink, that complimented the image; then stamped around the paper with the little butterfly stamp.  The striped paper and the image, Heather - coloured with my alcohol markers - are from the new Bonbon Belles CD.  The sentiment is from the Fairy Flutterfly - Gracie - set.

Claire C. I love to make my own backgrounds so this challenge was right up my street. I decided to alter a mirror and got to work with various acrylic paints and created a messy background. I used images and paper from Pretty Tuff and  added some torn scraps of backing paper with Maimeri gloss gel medium. I coloured the images with Graph'it Markers and added them with gloss medium too. I raided the scrabble for some tiles to add the wording lol

I love making my own backgrounds! I made my sky using Pan Pastels and coloured the grass with my Graph'It markers - so easy and quick! This image is from our new Bonbon Belles collection...

Lidia And for this Challenge I made my background with Studio 12 Stamps I colored my Background with acquarelles and the House is made with the paper piecing technique. Finally I added some glitter in the trees and the little hearts I hope you enjoy making your own background.

You have until 12 noon on Sunday 14 July to enter and good luck!
